Report on Technology Committee Meeting - Wednesday, November 29, 2006

On November 29, 2006, Goodland USD held it's first technology committee meeting for the 2006-2007 school year. During the planning stages for this meeting Shelly and I discussed past performance of the committee and what exactly was the committee's role as we move forward. How does the "new" teacher leadership team, the LTT (LeadTechTeam), fit in the equation?

In my opinion, what would make this meeting unique, was the shift in focus. We would either completely change the culture of this committee from an equipment needs committee with a negative connotation to a learning results committee with positive reflection. Or ... dissolve the committee. Unfortunately, our attendance was probably an answer to our dissidence.

And so it began, at a little past 4:00 p.m., in the spirit of changing the culture to reflect the positive events of our technology committee meeting, Shelly Angelos welcomed those present; Nona Mason (LTT), Deb Bantam (LTT), Sharon Gregory(Curriculum Director/Administrator), Jona Neufeld (LTT), Aimee Stoffel (GHS Media Specialist), Karla Murray (Technology Coordinator), Shelly Angelos (Superintendent), Josh Cech (senior), and Tom Betz (Goodland Daily News).

The agenda looked like this:
  • Welcome
  • Introductions
  • Purpose
  • Sate of Technology in USD 352
    • Innovations
    • Tech Plan
    • Student Learning
    • Instructional Methods

  1. What is currently taking place in USD 352 to move student learning, instructional methods, home/school connections, staff development, and leadership forward?
  2. What adjustments need to be made to further facilitate student learning, instructional methods, ome/school connections, staff development, and leadership?
